Histone Methyltransferase inhibitors (or MT inhibitors) are a group of compounds that interfere with the function of methyltransferases. Dysregulation of methylation at specific histone sites has been implicated in numerous cancers. Therefore, targeting MT activity has been the subject of much study in the field of oncology, even recently reaching human clinical trials. Methyltransferases represent promising drug candidates for cancer therapy.
