A five-member complex (EZH2, AEBP2, EED, RbAp48, SUZ12) in which the catalytic subunit (EZH2) acts as a histone H3 lysine-27 methyltransferase, generating trimethylated histone H3 lysine-27 (H3K27me3), an epigenetic mark essential for programmed repression of gene expression. EZH2 is overexpressed in a wide range of human cancers and is considered a promising target for the development of anti-cancer therapies.
